Joslin. My wife can trace her Joslin line back to Henderson, but so far we can not for sure find his father. What we have so far seems to point to Gabriel Joslin as his father, but you claim it is William J. Joslin. Can you point to solid info for what you say, or at least give us some leads to check out? Would appreciate. Al Partenheimer www.setapart@psci.net Ph. 1-812-649-9277 Thanks

    1. DANIEL JOSLIN Sr. DAVIDSON CO. TN.
    2. Hello List, Daniel Joslin Sr. of Davidson Co. TN. is my great great grandfather, viz his daughter Nancy, born 22 June 1770 VA. died 6 May 1857 in Hickman Co. KY. Nancy Joslin married 24 Dec 1799 in Davidson Co. TN. to William Evans, born 14 June 1769 VA. died 11 June 1860 Hickman Co. KY. On Nancy (Joslin) Evans' death record in Hickman Co. KY. her parents are listed as, D & S Joslin. The only two Joslin men in Davidson County Tennessee in 1799, when Nancy Joslin married William Evans, were, Daniel Joslin and Benjamin Joslin, who were sons of John and Dinah (unknown) Joslin. Nancy (Joslin) Evans has been said to be the daughter of Benjamin Joslin, BUT her death record with D. Joslin as her parent seems to disprove Benjamin as her father. From a photo copy of the 1805 Tax List of Davidson Co. TN. Joslin Daniel Sen'r & Jun'r, Samuel & Gabriel -- Tithable males- 4 - tithable slave- 1 -. From this tax list it would seem that the Daniel Jr., Samuel and Gabriel Joslin were the sons of Daniel Joslin Sr. From census records of Daniel Joslin Jr. he was born ca. 1774 in VA. and died 5 June 1855 in Tishomingo Co, MS. I do not have information on Samuel Joslin. From the census records of Gabriel Joslin, he was born ca 1784 in GA. and died after 1850 in Dickson Co. TN. If anyone has information on Daniel Joslin Sr. I would very much like to talk and share information. Daniel Joslin Sr. has been my brickwall for years. Sorry this has been so long and thank you all for reading. Wakley Ann (Evans) Doyal

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HQl.2ACEB/200.202 Message Board Post: I have good news for you!!! You are related to my wife through Henderson. He was a brother to Thomas. They were the sons of Gabriel Joslin, and the 1850 Census lists Gabriel as being born in Georgia. His wife, Elizabeth Hooper, was from Georgia also. They were married in Davidson County, Tennessee on December 18, 1801, but soon moved to Dixon County. Thomas was born in 1824, he was a farmer. Henderson's son, "Gabriel" was 15 years old and listed as living in Thomas's household in 1850. We have been investigating this line for years, originally we thought Henderson was related to Benjamine, [a famous early settler in Nashville area - Davidson County.] With finally compileing information on the computer, we have substantial thought circumstantial evidence that Gabriel was Henderson, Thomas. Elizabeth R., W. B., and A. B. Joslin's father. The W. in W. B. stands for William or Willie. The A. in A. B. is most likely Albert. We have a solid ancestrial record back to Henderson. We are currently makeing plans to visit Georgia - there is a Daniel Joslin listed on a Revolutionary War land grant that we want to check out. He could possibly be Gabriel's father? Gene Phillips List manager. ------------------------------------ Does anyone know of a branch of the Joslin family that came here from Ireland? My g-g-uncle James Arthur Joslin was once contacted regarding being next in line to inherit a Joslin castle in Ireland. His grand-daughter has a child's china cup with an image of the castle in bas relief on the bottom. It is decorated on the outside with the "Bells of Ireland", a flower known for its beautiful greenery. Any suggestions on how to track down this castle and the family that lived there?
