Do you know who Orlando H. C. Joslyn's parents were? Where were they from? I have a Joslyn line. We spell it Josleyn but there were some that spelled it Joslyn. My line directly back goes John Franklin Josleyn son of Ambrose Josleyn son of Hiram Josleyn Hiram had a brother John that's family spelled it Joslyn John had a son Charles Hull Joslyn. Hiram's dad was Seth Josselyn and Seth's dad was Stockbridge. Hiram was born in LeRoy NY. If any of this sounds familiar would like to hear from you and compare notes. Sorry but I don't know anything about a Jeremiah or Mary Ann Joslin. Perhaps the messages got mixed up. My maternal grandparents were Orlando H. C. Joslyn & Annie Frost. I would certainly be glad to share if I had the info but unfortunately, I don't, or the message was misdirected to me in error. So very sorry you had your hopes up!

The virus warning is a hoax. "jdbgmgr.exe" is a file that is NORMALLY found in Windows systems if JAVA is installed. It belongs there. If it had a virus in it, Norton or McAfee WOULD detect it. No one should ever act on a e-mail virus warning without checking it out first on reputable anti-virus sites, and it's a good idea to check the truth of virus warnings before forwarding them as well. In this case, see: <http://techupdate.zdnet.com/techupdate/stories/main/0,14179,2865855,00.html> <http://www.cnet.com/techtrends/0-7311128-8-9915907-1.html> If you have already deleted this normal part of you operating system (it is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java) just follow the directions on those pages to restore it. Hope this helps prevent some damage. Dennis J. Cunniff ----------------------------------- The Foster's wrote: > > I just received this from my brother-in-law. Hi listmates, The virus described is definitely a HOAX. It is better to go to the Norton web site at www.symantec.com and click on Search Virus Encyclopedia and look up any virus warnings that you are sent before sending it to any people in your Address book, or on any mailing list. You will see at the Norton web site whether or not the warning is for a "real" virus or a hoax. The problem with sending it directly out without checking is that it will make many people panic to follow the instructions and possibly do more harm than good. Also believing that it is "better to be safe than sorry" can cause you more problems than just leaving things alone. These hoaxes are just as much mischief makers as the genuine viruses. If you remove the hoax file from your system, you may find that some of your Java applets will not display properly. Fortunately this file is not a critical one, but you never know what you are deleting until you check it out. You would then need to go to the Norton web site and find the instructions for replacing the file in your system folder. It describes this in the Virus Encyclopedia on the site, under the file name jdbgmgr.exe. I know people mean well when sending these warnings, but PLEASE check them out first before spreading it around. I got caught on a hoax one time and deleted a vital file, so that is why I am concerned. Thanks for listening... Joan (Researching JOSLINS from Bradninch, Devon, Somerset and Wales) P.S. I also got this warning from another list that I belong to, so it spreads RAPIDLY. A lister wrote: >I just received this from my brother-in-law. As he is an ex-police >officer I tend to believe him. Your email address bounced when I replied to your last message, so I will continue to post a message to this list, and try another personal email. Eliza Moses was the mother of Phoebe Joslin. If you have a picture of a Moses family it may be Richard Moses the brother of Eliza. He was in New York and then came to Wi. also. I can't wait to see your photos! When you find them, could you make color copies for me? I will pay you for all costs!! I think it was very easy a few years ago to make mistakes or not find records. In the past 15 years, I think it has become a lot easier to find the records then in the past! It's too bad the IGI does not have a system to allow for corrections! That is wonderful that you have the divorce transcribed. That must have been very difficult! I have never seen such an unusual style of handwriting. I will include my address so you can send me the transcriptions. You could also email it, if you know how. Do you know when Phoebe left Wisconsin and when she married George Bowers? I assume her petition must have included more details of her marriage to him? We have always been fascinated over Phoebe's story, and I'm glad she continued to lead a colorful life with colorful people! Have you ever found an obit for her? Or a grave? I'm glad to hear your mom is better. Does she like to share info about her family? My mom is fascinated! I did find the mini history about Joseph Tatro on the internet. He was also an interesting person! Did you ever find any pension records for him? Have you ever fiqured out if the second wife, Maria Oryall was related to Parryzade's husband Elias Oryall? I didn't know Phoebe had gone to Southern Illinois. Is that where she went in 1870? I continue to find interesting info on the Joslin family in Cumberland, RI. I have been searching the land records and have discovered a tremendous amount of info. I have also discovered another cousin, descended from the sister of Phoebe, Isabelle Joslin Gustin. This tree is really sprouting some great branches!!! I would love to talk to you. I believe I have found your phone number from information, but have not been able to talk to you.
