Was there a John Mathis or Matthew Jordan in your family? He married Margaret Minerva Elder. Their daughter Mary Elizabeth married Edmond Welch and named my grandfather Jordan Dewey. They always called him Jurdan. John Jordan was from Alabama before he came to Texas. They settled near Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, and he went off to Civil War as a Captain. After the war they moved first to Red River County and then to Pilot Point, Denton County. Does any of this sound familiar? mmhayton
