My g-grandmother, Leila Wetona PRINCE was married to Dr. Elisha Miller ROBINSON b 1863 (not 1893). Sorry for the confusion. Abigail ----- Original Message ----- From: Abigail Dennison To: JORDAN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 29, 2005 11:29 AM Subject: ROLFE/BOLLING/FLEMING/JORDAN I am sending the list something I promised months ago and am ashamed that I am just now doing so. This is a piece of paper most probably typed by my grandmother, Marion ROBINSON b 1891 Birmingham, Ala., Jefferson Co., d/o Leila Wetona PRINCE, d/o Martha Gaines JORDAN/JOURDAN and Dr. Francis Marion PRINCE of Jefferson Co., Ala. and wife of Dr. Elisha Miller ROBINSON b 1893 Arkedelphia, ala. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of it but it may help someone with their research and I would like to share it. My grandmother, Marion ROBINSON d 1941 Birmingham, Ala., m 1911 Nathaniel McWhorter BANKS b 1891 Etowah Co., Ala. d 1951 Hillsborough Co., Fla. Abigail Banks Dennison abanks@dnet.net BOLLING The BOLLING family is very ancient. Robert Bolling, Esq. in the reign of Edward IV possessed and resided in his elegant house of Bolling Hall near Bradford in Yorkshire England where many generations of his ancestors in the enjoyment of private life had lived. After his death he was buried in the family vault in the church of Bradford. It is probable that his family had been benefactors of that church, and had even built it for since it's coat of arms alone was engraved upon it which perhaps would not have been permitted had it not been for that or some other circumstance of the same kind.. This Robert BOLLING died in the year 1485 and Bolling Hall passed in succession to the families of Tristram BOLLING and Sir Richard TEMPEST who intermarried with Rosamond the daughter and heiress of the former and others. Robert, son of John and Mary BOLLING of the BOLLING of Bolling Hall near Bradford, Yorkshire England of Allhollows, Barkin Parish, Tower Street London, the first of the name who settled in Virginia, was born Dec. 26, 1646. He arrived in Virginia Oct. 2, 1660 and married first in 1675, Jane, daughter of Thomas ROLFE. My descent from the BOLLINGs is from John ROLFE who married Pocahuntas. Their son, Captain Thomas ROLFE married Jane Paythress. Jane ROLFE married Captain Robert BOLLING, their son Col. John BOLLING married Mary KENNON, their daughter, Mary BOLLING married Col. John FLEMING. Their daughter, Elizabeth FLEMING married Col. Samuel JORDAN/JOURDAN, their son Mathew JORDAN/JOURDAN married Julia SCOTT, their son Rueben JORDAN/JOURDAN married Janette HARVIE, their son Mortimer JORDAN/JOURDAN married Miss Lucy GREY/GRAY, their daughter, Martha JORDAN/JOURDAN married Dr. Frank PRINCE, their daughter, Leila Wetona PRINCE married Dr. Elisha Miller ROBINSON. This is how it is written other than when I inserted the different spellings of the same name. I believe the GRAY/GREY was actually spelled GRAY. I do hope the Jordan/Jourdan list will enjoy this and that it may benefit someone. In my family the name is pronounced JOURDAN. Pls. feel free to email me with any comments. Would love to hear from anyone. Abigail abanks@dnet.net
