In Mrs. Perry's book, "These Jordans were Here" There were people who came to VA--see Chapter VII of that book. In 1624 Peter Jordan, age 22 came on the "London Merchant" with his transportation ppaid by the officials of the colony, to attend the College Land for seven years. In 1635 John Jordan was brought to VA by Thomas Butler Clark, the pastor of Denbie of Warresquioake Co. In 1693 his will was probated naming Dorcas as his wife, stepsons John and Thomas Spencer. In 1637 George Jordan, came listed as a headright of Henry Browne of the James Towne Colony. Arthur Jordan, a brother of George Jordan, also came to Virginia around this same time, but if he was a headright, the claimant is not recorded. On September 13, 1679, a James Jordan is listed on the "Mallego Merchant of London". Because no one is listed as claiming his as a headright, he must have paid his own way. Other early settlers listed in George Cabel Greer's book "Early Virginia Emigrants 1623-1666" are: Anth Jordan, headright of John Moore, Warresquoike Co., Va. in 1635 Ann Jordan by John Jenkins, Northhampton Co., Va 1655 Patrick Jordan by Matilda Scarbough, Northhampton Co in 1655 George Jordan by Capt Samuel Matthews, esq, in 1642.
