Faye, Were you the person looking for information on Richard Jordan of VA and NC. I got a lot of information from Virginia Early Quaker Records. Richard Jordan, son of Thomas Jordan of Chuckatuck, and Rebecca Rattcliff the daughter of Richard Rattcliff, did publish their marriage before a meeting of men and women friens in the meeting house in Chuckatuck on the 11th day of the 5 mo. in the year 1706 and coming before the second time at our mo meeting held at our Publick meeting house upon the 8th day of the 6th mo they did publish their marriage the 2nd time and were married in the house of Richard Rattcliff, Rebecca's father on the 22nd day of the 6th mon in the year 1706. I am puzzled by who "Alfred" might be -- since we are looking for the father of our Jordan boys as "Isham" or "Isom" (which might be the Biblical name for "John" if any of you can verify that). It has been suggested that perhaps a neighbor gave the census information and did not understand the Head of Household's name and just reported it as Alfred. "Sophia" fits, since my Owen M.'s mother was Sophia -- James Ladson and Ely Mack had a different mother, name unknown (despite what has been reported on-line, we have no definite info on first wife's name). > > Faye > > > ==== JORDAN Mailing List ==== > List webpage - http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/j/jordan.html > some JORDAN resources - http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/surnames/jordan/ > Genealogy Links - http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/GEN-links.htm >
Thanks for that information. The Jordans from Margaret Brasseur's line belong to my nephews (they are "double Jordaned" since they have that line that runs to Davis -- and they share my line, because my grandmother (their great-gr) was a Jordan in the line I have been posting about. All this is so complicated, but so much fun. Thanks for your info!
