Faye--here is a short version of it. Thomas Jordan of Chuckatuck He was the grandson of Samuel Jordan, who came to VA in 1610. There is no record of who the mother of Thomas Jordan is or was. 1659 Thomas mar Margaret Brassere (they were Fr Huguenots) At the age of 16 Margaret, the wife of Thomas Jordan, united with the TRuth (Quakers or Friends). Thomas was captured in his home and put in prison for 9 months and some of his possession were taken) for worshipping and studying the Bible in his on home. Thomas and Margaret had the following children: Thomas b 1660 James b 1663 Robert b 1665 Richard b. June 6, 1670 Joseph b. 1672 Benjamine b 1674 Matthew b 1676 Samuel b 1679 Joshua b. June 1681---- I descend from this one. Elizabeth b. no date given Margaret b. no date given Joshua b 1681 md Edith Flowers and they moved to Edgecombe Co., NC where their children were born. Joshua Jordan, b abt 1777 moved to SC prior to moving to Alabama-- he had two brothers Asa and Levi Jordan who moved to Georgia. Asa was b abt 1778. Joshua died in 1791 and left a will namind his wife Edey and sons. Cornelius, the oldest son, from whom I descend was left out of this will. Cornelius, Sr. mar Mary Daniels-- and I descend from Joshua Jordan b abt 1777-- he was age 73 in the Pike County, Alabama Census records. They lived in an area called Indian Branch about 5 miles West of Troy, Alabama in Pike County. One of Joshua's grandsons named Daniel Jordan md Catharine Jordan and they were my great grand parents. They were md in Pike County in 1867 (I have the mar License) Their children were. Salome b 1867 died in 1918/19 in the flu epedemic. Wm Daniel died in 1927 of a stroke of heart attack Vinnie Ardelia died at age 63 of a series of strokes (this one is the only one I remember) Minnie Olive Jordan, b May 22, 1883 and d May 18, 1929 -- mar Wm Richard Witherington) my grand parents. Louise Jordan (no date of birth or death--My father told me that she died when she was abt 3 yrs old, she choked to death on watermelon seeds.) I don't remember my Jordan grandparents or any of the other older set except for Aunt Vin as we called her. Collene Witherington Mount my father was Comer Witherington son of Minnie Olive Jordan and Wm R. Witherington. The book that I have from Alainep is about 160 pages.
