    1. James "Jim" Jordan
    2. I haven't posted the information on my Jordans lately, so here it is and I'm hoping someone recognizes one of them! Thanks! Jana James J. JORDAN, b. Indian Territory around Sallisaw @ 1874-1870, d. McAlester July 31, 1941 married Frances "Fannie" NICHOLS 3/1896 in Cherryvale Camp, IT (near Krebs, a coal mining camp) James & Fannie were on the 1900 census in Franklin Co AR (where Fannie was born), then on the 1910 census in Pittsburg Co. in the Quinton/Featherston area, then approximately 1920, they moved to the Harper's Valley area west of Kiowa and they continued to live there until he died in 1941. Then Fannie continued to live there until she was unable to care for herself and moved to a type of nursing home in McAlester, then she died in November 1959. Both James and Fannie are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. I have checked with Vital Records in OK City and the funeral home that buried James and can find no death certificate nor can I locate any obit for him in the McAlester or Kiowa papers I've been able to search. None of the family has anything more on either of them than the bills for the funeral (which, interestingly, they were a little over $100 each!). In the 1930 census, they are still in Harper's Valley area and are now listed as Mixed Blood Cherokee. I've not been able to locate James on any prior censuses. The children of this marriage: Freddie or James Jr. (there's family disagreement over the name and he's not listed on any censuses) - died as a toddler, don't know where he was born for sure, but believe he was born in AR and was a baby when the Jordans returned to IT. Twin Girls - as far as we know they were stillborn or only lived a few hours and were never named - don't have any burial or birth dates on them, so don't know if they were born in AR or IT Baby Girl - think this one was born in IT, but not for sure, except that dates tend to indicate most likely and that she did not live - was stillborn If the information on the 1910 census is correct, there was another child born to them prior to 1910 as it is listed as it says that Fannie has had 6 children, so that would include Freddie, the Twins, the baby girl, Claude and another child. Claud(e)(ie) JORDAN - Born IT @ 1904 Jess Willard JORDAN - Born 4/21/1915, Quinton/Featherston (San Bois) area, d. 10/1968 in Arlington, Texas, buried in Arlington, TX (lived in CA, OR, SC also) Orfus JORDAN - Twin brother of Opal - born in Quinton/Featherston (San Bois) area, died in McAlester, OK, buried in Kiowa Cemetery, Kiowa OK. Opal JORDAN - Twin sister of Orfus - born in Quinton/Featherston (San Bois) area, died unknown, buried unknown Living Jordan, born in Quinton/Featherston area (San Bois?) and is still living and working at 83 yo. Thanks for any assistance you may have in finding James JORDAN's parents. We were told that his parents' names were Jack & Sarah, but have no other information on them other than census information which says James father was born in GA and his mother in SC. There is a Jackson Jordan - possibly James' father, came to Adair Co area (wasn't Adair Co then) in 1888 from Lumpkin Co., GA with several other families including Dangers, and I think Thompsons. He had 4 kids, James, Martin, and 2 girls. He's a possibility, but I can't find him elsewhere to see if it really is James father & mother and sister. There's no information in the family on a brother, but James did have 2 sisters, but their names are not remembered. They were supposed to have lived with James & Fannie at one time, but evidently not during any censuses. One of the sisters is supposed to have lost an arm in a railroad accident, but we have no other information about that either. I find James and his family in censuses from 1900 to 1930, but no other Jordans near them. I find quite a few John & Jack Jordans in Rolls and Censuses prior to 1900, both in SC and GA (and other places), but I can't locate any that I can say for sure are James' parents. Thanks for any information you might have on this family or any ideas on where I can look for more information! Jana
