    1. RE: [JORDAN] DNA confusion??
    2. BET
    3. I understood it to be that William Enoch Jordan b. 1803 and George Jordan b. 1784 had a close DNA match. The William Jordan that married Elizabeth Woodson is the same William Jordan who did migrate to KY, and his 2nd wife was Lucy Stith. This from the Stith family genealogy page... "Lucy STITH, b. March 12, 1761; died after 1817, since her name is mentioned in will of her husband William Jordan in Breckinridge Co., Ky., dated Feb. 15, 1817. Married in Bedford Co., Va., June 15, 1780, to William Jordan, whose name appears in notes on Richard STITH, Senior, Lucy's father. William Jordan was first married in Goochland Co., Va., to Elizabeth Woodson. To this first union was born one son Woodson Jordan whose name appears in the will of his father, Page 27 - Wills of Breckinridge Co., Kentucky, compiled by Annie Walker Burns, Genealogist. The will was drawn Feb. 15, 1817; probated May Term of Court, 1817 ". There are several incidences of the first name George in the line of this William Jordan, no relation to the Arthur Jordan/George Jordan family that we know of. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, September 08, 2002 8:18 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [JORDAN] DNA confusion?? If I read the discussion correctly--William Enoch Jordan b. 1803 is descended from a George Jordan b. 1784 Bedford Co. VA. (Larry Jordan's line) Then, the same email suggests that there is a kinship with a William Jordan who married an Elizabeth Woodson 1771 and later a Lucy Stith then migrated to KY. Finally, this William is presumed descended from the Thomas/ Samuel line. First, it was my understanding that the William who married Elizabeth Woodson remained in VA. And, that the William who married Lucy Stith and migrated to KY was a different person. Second, it was my understanding that George Jordan comes from the line of Arthur Jordan whose brother was named George. (Robert Jordan's line) Lastly, Norman Jordan (on this list) has claimed descent from Robert Jordan of New England--is there confirmation or negation of a relationship between the New England Jordan's and the VA/NC Jordans? Still looking for Enoch Jordan found on 1790 re-created tax list for Orange Co. NC wife Elizabeth Stepp (Stapp). They migrated to Giles Co. TN (about 1811) with a brief stay in Lauderdale Co. AL. ______________________________
