I have hired a genealogist in Scotland and the US and they have not been able to trace the Fleming line back to Scotland, which is suppose to lead to a royal connection. Have any of you been able to DOCUMENT a connection?? I am talking about Elizabeth Fleming who married Samuel Jordan. She was the daughter of Charles Fleming and Susanna Tarleton Fleming. The father of Charles is suppose to be John Fleming, his father Captain Alexander Fleming and his father John Fleming, the Earl of Wigton (Scotland). Apparently there is a problem connecting Alexander back to the Earl. I understand the "family tree" was printed in some old publications, but there is no documentation or information showing how they proved the connection. One genealogist told me it was wishful thinking! I certainly would appreciate any help, I would like to register the coat of arms with the Colonial Dames. Connie Grund, AL
