I am looking for descendants of River Jordan, born about 1795, probably Pitt Co. NC, and who lived in Bladen Co. NC mid 1800s. He was probable son of Benjamin Jordan - connected to the Arthur line. Any Jordans from this line would be a perfect check for the Arthur Jordan line of Surry Co. VA. Linda Toler's e-mail is no longer valid. Submitter:Linda Toler Subject:Arthur Jordan Message:From the info I have seen Arthur Jordan may have come to America around 1635. He was married to a "Miss Rawlings". Mentions 4 children George, Arthur, Fortune and Mary. George, who married Alice Myles and I think he married again, was a well known political figure in the VA colony. Fortune married John Flood, Mary married twice Arthur Bailey, and Christopher Foster. Arthur,my line, married Elizabeth Bevin 4-12-1654. They had several children and my line eventually left VA moved on to North Hampton Co. NC onto Bladen Co. NC. Where River Jordan had a plantation, and 3 sons in the civil war, one being my ggrandfather. His son Edward Jordan was my grandfather and the rest is history.
