Catherine Hussey. I believe I descend from this line, however, I cannot prove all the way back to William yet. Someone once questioned my connections from Elias Jordan (m. Rachel Cass) to his supposed father, Thomas Jordan and Mary unknown from Jordan's Creek, Roanoke Rapids, Granville co., NC. I'm still looking for proof of Elias' connection to Thomas and Mary Jordan. With the tests listed as they are, I cannot tell what lines ARE being tested. Why don't you at least list the eldest ancestor in that line with pertinent details on him, so folks can try to locate their lines. Not all of us can do the testing. I would also like to know if any males from the lines of Elias or other sons of Thomas and Mary have tested yet. I am keeping track of the tests being ran by my fellow Shelton researchers. You can all take a peek at the page here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~thall/dna.html I don't know why our numbers seem to be smaller than those I've seen on your site and those of others listed from that site, but we use the same company (Family Tree DNA). I list what is given to me by our case study manager, Margaret Shelton. As you will see on the following webpage, we have accumulated some great results from our Jordan Surname DNA Project: http://jordannctoal.homestead.com/JordanDNAProjectResults.html Of particular interest is the Jordan Family Group JG1. We now have three sets of results in JG1. The results for J4274 is one mutation from the results of J4358 and J4768 (a 24 of 25 DNA marker match). This means that J4274 has a 99.9% probability of sharing a common ancestor with J4358 and J4768. The earliest documented ancestors of these test participants are as follows: J4274: William Enoch Jordan b 1803 in NC J4358: George Jordan b 1787 in VA J4768: Jonas Jordan b Abt. 1755 in Amelia Co., VA For a 24/25 match, there is a 50% probability that the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) lived 17.5 generations ago or less than 350 years ago (17.5 generations x 20 years per generation). That would make their most recent common ancestor a Jordan male who lived around 1650. Although this group (JG1) has not determined their MRCA, they have many indications that it may be the family of or descendants of Thomas Jordan b July 07, 1635 in Isle of Wight Co, VA. We would love to get one or more Jordan male descendants of this family to participate in the DNA project. We appear to have the beginnings of a star-shaped network, with J4274 as the center point (possessing the ancestral haplotype) and J4768 and J4358 the rays (descendants of different branches, each showing one mutation compared to the center). It is too soon to tell if this will hold up; we will follow the pattern as we accumulate more data. Doug Mumma's web site is well worth studying for star-shaped networks. He started with a known common ancestor; different mutations defined different branches to form a star-shaped network.
