The full story of the Enoch Jordan who migrated to Alabama is shown at: http://jordannctoal.homestead.com/JordanMigrationNCAL.html Through the Jordan Surname DNA Project, we have connected this William Enoch Jordan to two other Jordan families that were not connected by paper before the project started. One of these families migrated from VA to West Virginia. The second migrated from Coosa Co, AL to Texas. The DNA Project has proven that William Enoch was related to the following Jordan males: - Jonas Jordan b 1755, Amelia Co, VA - George Jordan, Sr b 1784, Bedford Co., VA The DNA project is shown at: http://jordannctoal.homestead.com/DNAindex.html Through the DNA project, the database of RECENT ETHNIC ORIGINS (REO) was compared with the results from participant J4274 (my ancestors) who matched with J4358 to determine the country of origin of the family. While the DNA for J4274 did not provide an exact match with a known country of origin, the results indicate a strong connection with Nordic (Scandanavian) countries, including Norway, Finland and Sweden. Specifically, the strong matches were in the HG2 Nordic Haplogroup, one of two Nordic Haplogroups. This indicates that the family of origin that immigated to America were probably of Viking descent or a male ancestor was of Viking blood. The data also indicates England or Scotland as possible, but less likely, countries of origin. Larry, When a person does DNA test.....do they compare the DNA only with those who carry the same last name or with all the participants of the DNA research no matter what their last name? If you want your DNA compared to more than one surname (I have a good reason for this) is it the same price? My Jordan line is stuck, like so many, in Georgia. The ancestor is Wiley Henry Jordan (@1818-1865) who married Lucinda Bond (1819-1870). The family had some collatoral families, Carroll, Shell, and Redwine, with whom they made a wagon train trip to settle in Texas. Any connections out there? Any new info on the family?? Thanks, Cousin Val
