Is it possible to get a reliable DNA result if the line is interrupted by a female? My great great grandfather was John Mathis or Matthew Jordan, from Alabama, who came to Hopkins County, Texas and settled in Black Jack Grove near Sulphur Springs and married Margaret Minerva Elder. My great grandmother was one of four girls, Mary Elizabeth Jordan. There were no boys. He formed a Cavalry unit and fought in the Civil War. Records say he was wounded but recovered and eventually moved the family to Pilot Point, Texas in Denton County, Texas. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Mmhayton@aol.com
