First - I wish this was happening on another list or two: I've made it pretty far back with my Jordan line. Second - Once I thought about it for a while, I'd want my daddy, James Horace Jordan (b. 1902, Winn Parish, Louisiana - d. 1971, Jackson Parish, Louisiana), to eat with me. I'd like the opportunity to thank him for being Daddy, for taking me hunting and fishing, for teaching me important lessons about life, for being a "young" daddy even though he was 43 years old when I was born. I would want to introduce him to my 4 daughters and 3 grandsons and my son-in-law. Then I would share with Daddy all I have found out about his family, because he really knew very little about them. Happy Thanksgiving! Be thankful! Carole Jordan Hays Quitman, Louisiana
I am descendant of Edward Jordan through his son Labon Jordan born 1788 in Va. Not only would I have lots of questions, I would like to tell them how proud I am of them. They traveled from Va to Tn in 1800's. That would have been a long and difficult trip. Wonder how long it took them? They must have been very sturdy people! Can you imagine trying to read or study by candle light? And for you gals out there, how on earth did they manage to cook with a fireplace? My father was born in Tn in 1800's and would tell me that his Mother made the best ash cake in a fireplace.Guess she just made a batter and put it over hot coals. So we should all be thankful we live in this day and age. M.E.
I'd invite Edward Jordan and his wife Elizabeth. I'd ask Edward who his father was, where his son, Samuel died, and I'd ask Elizabeth if William McConnico was really her father. Edward Jordan was b. ca 1720, Lived in Lunenburg Co., Va. and died in Halifax Co., Va. in 1791. His wife, Elizabeth died in Lunenburg Co., Va. in 1794. Lorri
It would be my Grandparents James and Mary Jordan. I would ask them about NB and all their folks in NB and most of all where did they bury their first daughter Elizabeth Mabel Jordan. Then give them a great big hug and kiss and tell them I am thankful for the heritage they passed on to me Janice Young Ga
now THAT is an easy one ! "Maria H. Jellison" b. about 1750 died 1827 in Mariaville, Hancock, ME ... her husband was Joseph Jellison (Sr) chr. 22 Sep 1754 Biddeford, who probably predeceased her, her son was Joseph H. Jellison b. 1785 Union River who married 26 Mar 1807 Ellsworth, Abigail "Nabby" Jordan daughter of Christiana Simonton and Solomon Jordan family papers show Maria as a Jordan, but she is not listed in the "Jordan Memorial" nor have I been able to find her by that name in the VRs for Biddeford or Cape Elizabeth, in my opinion the two most likely places for her to be born if she was in fact born a Jordan I have yet to find anyone who will go to Mariaville to look at her tombstone, I have not yet gotten an answer to my request for her death certificate, and I have yet to find a death date for Joseph Jellison I'd love to find out where she was born, who her parents were, if she was married previously (she was apparently 30 when she married Joseph Jellison), what that middle initial H stands for, exactly who her children were (some of the children attributed to Joseph Jellison and Maria are also attributed to Joseph's twin, Benjamin .... ), and if she perhaps has Howland/Tilley Mayflower ancestry Candy (chilly and damp in the Pacific North Wet)

I would ask my g-grandfather William J. Jordan born 09 Dec 1863, and ask him to bring his father, William, so I could get all the details on his voyage, where he came from, how life was back in the old country, he was from No. Ireland. Naturalization records say he came from Derry. William Jr. death certificate has his mother as Fanny Laetz (Letts), which is also my grandmothers middle name. I would introduce him to my brother who looks just like him! Carol C-H <cch@netdoor.com> wrote:Those of us in the USA will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving. Thank you for your note. The Mortimer Jordan of whom you are speaking was most probably a son or grandson of Mortimer Harvie Jordan. The family was around the Jefferson Co./Birmingham area. I would love to have my 2nd great Grandfather Eli Jordan, born June 1835, SC, died July 12, 1913, Winn Parish, La. Oh, so many questions, like Gregory & Zilphine Hoilfield Jordan really your parents. What happened to grandma Arrenia, is her name Arrenia or Marina and where is she buried? He could tell me so much about the family. Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving Christine Neal _ccplay@aol.com_ (mailto:ccplay@aol.com)
There use to be a Mortimer Joirdan who lived in Birmingham, Al. I did not know him but I have heard of him. He might have been neamed after the one whom you are speaking about. Good luck in your search.
It would be my gg-grandmother, Martha Gaines JORDAN (Pron. Jurdan) b Jan. 3, 1831 Jefferson, Ala., d Jul 20, 1900 and her husband, my gg-grandfather, Dr. Francis Marion PRINCE. She was the daughter of Mortimer Harvie JORDAN b 1799, Ogelthorpe Co., Ga., and Lucy Scott GRAY b Hale, Ala. 1799. I would love to hear about life back then and tales of growing up and I wish they could meet their ggg-grandaughters and their gggg-grandson. I wish they could have known my father, T. Robin BANKS, who was their g-grandson. Happy Thanksgiving to all the list members; have a wonderful day. Warmly, Abigail Banks Dennison Franklin, NC abanks@dnet.net
My husband, Josh's "Gran'day" Jordan is the one I would choose. He helped raise Josh for his first three years, and every summer after that. James Luther Jordan, II was born November 17, 1919 in Richmond, Virginia, and died August 30, 1989 in Richmond, Virginia. He married Vernorma Willoughby Collie on June 28, 1943 and they had two children. He worked as an Engineer and was, from all accounts, a good, caring and intelligent man. So, yes - he's the Jordan ancestor I'd like to see at our table. But...then again...William Whiteside Jordan would be a nice one - so I could ask him who his parents were!! Happy holiday celebrations to everyone. Kess Campbell

Dear All This is a message from England and with particular reference to Leeds. I am interested in anyone with a connection to the city and obviously surname Jordan. I have a Benjamin Jordan, Builder in my family tree from 1835. Lived in central Leeds at this time, married twice. I think there may have been a Jordan Exodus to the US - but can't find the details. So any US Jordan with Links to Leeds and Hopefully Benjamin Jordan, please get in touch. Gareth Yorkshire England
Hi listers! I'm new to this list. I am looking for information on a John Jordan that was living in New York City at: 1902: 87 Amsterdam 1910 - 1915 99 Columbus Ave, NY or possibly 801 Columbus Avenue in 1915 He was helping family members into the USA from those addresses during that time. His father may have been Joseph Jordan. That's all I know and I would be grateful for any help! Sincerely, Sandy Lovell
