    1. [JORDAN] Re: JORDAN-D Digest V02 #81
    2. Robin Proctor
    3. Hi- an update on my previous post. I just came from the Nash Register of Deeds...Ella Proctor (of Nash Co.) was (supposedly) 18 when she wed C.S. Jordan (Smith Jordan) in August 1878...Previous records had them married in 1873- which made her only 12! So- with the date of 1878, which is listed in Court records, she would actually have been 18 or just a few months shy of it. the date of marriage was listed as Aug 18, 1878. It was performed by JC Harper, J.P. and witnessed in Nashville NC by W.O. Cobb, Jno. Proctor, and W. G. Griffin. Her parents listed as Jno. I. and Ella Proctor. (I checked around and Jno. stands for John or Jonathan most likely). Smith was 24 at the marriage date. That checks out with the birthdate I have - If he was born in 1855 - he was actually 23 at the marriage...that is a common error...unless the tombstone is wrong, which is just as likely... I still need help with Ella Proctor Jordan. 1. [JORDAN] More 1880 US census look ups? Read Carefully!!
    2. Hi all, Anymore FREE look ups anyone? If I didn't answer your request then you were accidently deleted in the shuffle. Just resend it. If you don't have all the info, send me what you do have and I'll see what I can do. If it's too much then I'll let you know. Please read carefully... 1. Everyone alive, in the US by June 1st, 1880 is indexed. 2. You do not need an exact year of birth, the search allows for a 5 year difference either way. The year of birth could be different with each census. It is hardly ever accurate! The closer the better. 3. You do not have to tell me this but sometimes it lowers the hits if you don't have much info. What is the race? Black, White, Mulatto, Native American or Mexican? 4. Oklahoma Territory is not in the census. 5. Again...unless it's uncommon, I need a first and last name. 6. If you don't have much info then you can try giving me the names of a spouse and/or children that I might find on the 1880 census living with the person you're looking for. What you'll receive from me... 1. The name of the head of household and everyone living in it. 2. The relationship of everyone to the head of household. If the relationship is listed as other, then they are not related. 3. The age, race and sex of everyone. 4. The occupation of everyone. 5. The birth place of everyone and their parents. 6. Microfilm info. There is no limit on how many look ups you can request, I only ask that you limit it to 2 surnames per email. My website is coming back to life slowly but surely. You can check it out now or you can try agin in a day or 2 if it doesn't work. http://members.aol.com/ella12866/index.html Take care, Ella

    1. [JORDAN] Teddy Bear Virus is a HOAX
    2. Tom Lusk
    3. Please go to http://vil.mcafee.com/ and type in jdbgmgr.exe to access the McAfee file that describes the hoax and the e-mail which was distributed about it. It also tells how to restore jdbgmgr.exe if it has been deleted. It is a necessary file for Windows. If it doesn't exist, Windows will ask you to install it the next time you boot up. It can be infected by virus, but Teddy Bear Virus is not one of them. There are a number of sites besides McAfee which tell which virus are hoaxes or real. In this case all the teddy bear "virus" does is cause Window users to jump through hoops to reinstall the file you were told to delete. ===== Tom Lusk Aurora OH [email protected] __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. I have been told that my Miles Jordan married a Mahala Blue, supposedly in SC or NC but who knows, could be in VA. He died in Sept 1815 and left a daughter about maybe 3 years old. Her name was Mahala and she was in Columbia County, Georgia when he died. She received land in the 1820 land lottery for being his orphan. There was also a Mildred (Milly) Jordan, widow that drew land in Dooley County at the same time, this could be the wife of Miles, I have not been able to prove Mahala Blue or Mildred, also have not proved who Mahala (Haley/Halie) Jordan, orphan of Miles Jordan married, but she had three children (one son and two daughters) with their last name being Jordan, and she gift deeded her property to them on May 8th, 1838 and married Hensley Landers in Columbia County, Georgia on May 10th, 1838 and had three more daughters by the Landers. Miles was in service at the time of his death, if I understood the records right. Any help would be appreciated. will be glad to exchange information. 1. [JORDAN] Jordans of Bedford Co., VA
    2. Linda Curnutte
    3. Hello, I am looking for the parents and siblings of Jesse Jordan b. abt. 1800 in Bedford Co., VA, and died 1870 in Lawrence Co., KY. He married a Sarah Adkins abt. 1817. Her parents were John Adkins and Nancy McCraken. I have heard that Jesse’s parents were William Jordan and Lucy Stith, however, I cannot prove, or disprove this. I have not been able to locate any information on Jesse except for his wife and some of his children. I am wondering if perhaps he had a different first name and “Jesse” was a middle name. His daughter Sarah Jordan is my GGgrandmother who married James Curnutte (sometimes seen as William James) in Lawrence Co, KY. While search for my Jesse Jordan, I have come across several Jordans that I have seen mentioned on this list. I thought I would share this information in case it might help someone. (See below) Any information that anyone might have on my Jesse Jordan, would be greatly appreciated. Linda ________________________________________________________________________ This information was taken from the book “Our Kin” Bedford County, Virginia Familes. Jonas Jordan appears in the records of Bedford County, Virginia, in 1773 and Absalom, his son, in 1776. Absalom is mentioned as heir-at-law of Jonas. They are first mentioned in Isle of Wight in 1730 and seem to have lived in Amelia, Goochland, and Albemarle counties, before settling in Bedford, as their names are found in the records of all of those counties. No Revolutionary service has been found for either of them except the following: At a Court held for Bedford County, April 22, 1782, at the house of David Wright, “Jonas Jordan proved that he furnished the said Com: with 835 lbs. Beef for which he is all”d 16/8 per Cwt.” (Order Book, 1774-1782). Absalom Jordan married Mary Ann ____, and they reared a large family of children. Their son, Vincent Jordan, born 1769: married Elizabeth Mays in 1790. (Leroy, another son, married Rhoda Mays in 1806. Both daughters of John and Susannah Mays.) Vincent Jordan lived near Emaus. The old burying ground is near his house, enclosed with a stonewall, and there are tombstones at some fo the graves. A brother of Vincent, said to have been an eccentric bachelor, lived at Jordantown, and at his death, left his property to his slaves. Jubal Jordan, born 1792, son of Vincent and Elizabeth (Mays) Jordan, married in 1817, Priscilla Williamson, daughter of Henry and Ann Rebecca (Mason) Williamson. Four of their sons, Alexander, Tyler, William, and John, served in the Civil War. The first three were Captains, and Tyler was promoted to Major. William was wounded in the war and John was killed. Alexander Jordan, born 1829, son of Jubal and Priscilla (Williamson) Jordan, married in 1851, Lucy Ann Crenshaw, daughter of John and Lucy (McDaniel) Crenshaw. Children: Henry Vincent; married Mary Terry Buford Ella; married Dr. George Thomas Cauthron. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
