Jewel, Have you gotten a death certificate for your grandmother? It should have her father's name, her mother's name, and her birthplace on it. But remember that the accuracy of that information depends on the person who gave the information to the funeral home. Good luck! Carole Hays Hodge, LA

Nancy Lee Jordan is my grandmother. I understand she was born in Anniston, Calhoun County, Al. abt 1884. I know nothing about her parents but I understood she was of Cherokee Heritage. Shemarried my grandfather, Damiel F. Maples in 1902. I am assuming in either Alabama or Texas as I found them in the 1910 Census living in Fort Worth, Tarrant Co., TX. She died in Amarillo, Potter CO., TX sometime in 1927. I have been unable to get any more information on her. My grandfather, mother and all her siblings have also passed away, so I am up against a brick wall. I would appreciate any help to point me in the right direction. Dorothy Jewel Pruitt ( My mother was Jewel Maples) who died in 1932.
Jane was my ggmother . born 1828 died 1932 .Her Pension application states that she was born in NC .She came to Arkansas from Talapoosa Al. after marrying my ggfather Charles Mc Burnett . Any one here who has a connection ?
My Thomas Jordan was born 1853 in GA according to what he told his family and the census taker. I can find no record of him before he married Mary W Scott in Miller Co AR in 1884. I have searched the census with no luck. He told his family the Jordans he was related to had owned a plantation in GA and he ran away when he was teenager. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I am looking for documentation as to the parents of Jonas Jordan, b. abt. 1725. This is the same Jonas Jordan that is a part of the FamilyTreeMaker DNA Testing thru a descendant.
Sarah L. J. Jordan married Jacob A. Sims, 24 March 1870 in Pike County, Alabama. I don't know anything else about her except for the 2 children attributed to them. I would very much like to hear from someone who might have a clue as to her parentage and where she was born. Joyce Sims Severt
I am looking for more information on Thomas Jordan, who died between 15 Sep 1784 and 28 Oct 1784, and his family. He did not name a wife in his will. His four children named in the will were Henry, born before 1763 and died after 1789; Jesse, born before 1763 and died after 1789; Selah, born before 1755 and died before her father's will was written; and Temperance, born in 1764 and died in 1839. Selah Jordan married Joseph Ellis in 1776 in Brunswick County, Virginia and had at least one child, Betsey, named in Thomas Jordan's will. Temperance Jordan married James Bass of Brunswick County, Virginia. They had seven children: Thomas, Benjamin Jordan, Temperance Weston, Nancy S., James A., Mary Clarke, and Hartwell. Thanks for any information anyone has. Heather ===== Heather [email protected] http://members.tripod.com/eponalady/MainGenealogyPage.html
Please, all of you Jordan people, don't use as your subject line "ROLL CALL" in your posting to the Jordan List. Please instead use as your subject line pertinent information about your Jordan ancestor, such as "Thomas Alexander Jordan, Sr. - b. TN 1814, d. LA late 1800s" - that way readers will know at a glance whether or not to read the email further. Thanks! Carole Jordan Hays Hodge, Louisiana

I am looking for confirmation of the parents of Thomas Jordan who married Mary (possibly Letts). Supposedly they married in Granville County, NC. I cannot locate anything to confirm or deny his parentage. I was under the impression that his folks were: Arthur Jordan and Elizabeth Ann Turner. My Jordans are first found in IL building the Jordan Forts. Seven brothers went there, and many feel this Thomas is not the son of Arthur above. I did find another Arthur who died in 1752 in Northampton, who also had a son Thomas. Does anyone have data on that Thomas? Thought I would add another Joseph to the database. Joseph Evans Jordan b. 1880 Lawrence Co. TN son of Jackson Monroe Jordan and Mary McGee m. Wayne Co. TN 1872. Joseph was a twin to Annie Bell. Joseph Evans grew up in/around Florence AL, Lauderdale Co. He is on the 1900 census with his brother Willie (William) and "down the road a piece" from his brother James C. Jordan and wife Edna. By 1910 he is in TX with his wife, "Neta" and young family (they had also homesteaded in OK and spent a brief time in KS) My father Marvin Evans Jordan b. April 16, 1909 in Ochiltree Co. TX is still living. In about 1920 they returned to New Hope AL near Juanita "Neta" Poarch's family (the mother) and by about 1923 they are in GRAVELLY SPRINGS, AL Lauderdale Co.. They spent some time there and in Cherokee, Colbert Co. AL. The children (8) were grown, graduating from high school or getting married. They settled in Siloam Springs AR near John Brown University where they are buried near the Cathedral of the Ozarks. Marvin E. JORDAN graduated in 1937 from JBU. Marvin E. Jordan is a retired Methodist Minister. His maternal grandfather Rev. Henry Edward Poarch was a circuit riding Methodist Minister and was assigned the circuit about 1859 which included what is now Cherokee, Colbert Co. AL. I think it was called the Tescumbia Circuit which is another town nearby. This is on the south side of the Tennessee River across from Gravelly Springs in Lauderdale Co. AL Don't know if there is any relation to the William Jordan of 1860 in Gravelly Springs AL b. AL, but thought I would add this Joseph to the database. His grandfather was Archibald Moore Jordan b. NC and great grandfather was Enoch Jordan who must have died after 1830 but before 1840 in Giles Co. TN. Thanks, La Nita Jordan Wacker Shoreline, WA
