I am still searching for information on my Lovick Pierce Jordan. He was born about 1807 in S.C. I know he was in Jones Co. Ga., as early as 1827. It is believe he was married twice, and his first wife, is believed to have been a Nancy Heath. He married Malinda "Ann" Freeman in Jones Co. Ga., about 1844. They were listed in the 1850 census for Pike Co. Ga. They eventually migrated to Chambers Co. Al., and Lovick P. Jordan died there in 1864. Some feel his father was a Jacob Jordan, and it is a possibility, as I have found information that there was a Jacob Jordan in Jones Co. Ga., the same time Lovick P. was there, and Lovick P., had a son named Jacob! I was lucky enough in just the last week or so to obtain the will of Lovick Pierce Jordan, and probate records! I have also found that there was also an Elias Jordan in Jones Co. Ga., and Lovick, Elias, and Jacob, all won land in the 1827 land lottery! I also feel there maybe a connection with this Elias Jordan, as Lovick P., also had a son named Elias! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Becky Carden

You are probably right about her father being that particular Arthur Jordan in Northampton co. as that one named a daughter Fortune in his will of 1751. I have his wife as Sarah Clark. This is supposed to be a part of my Jordans, but I have to prove the link. She was married to Samuel Bass Jr. b abt 1750. They lived on the NC/Va border and owned land in Northampton Co NC and Greensville Co Va. Samuel Bass Jr's father Samuel Bass Sr was next door neighbor to an Arthur Jordan in NC. 1790 Northampton Co census has their names next to each other. I had assumed this was my Fortune Jordan's father. The Reavis family's Jesse(?) also married a Fortune Jordan daughter of Arthur. That Fortune was a generation older it seems than my Fortune. Does anyone know if my Fortune is a Jordan and who her parents were? My Sterling Bass b1771 their son had a son named Hartwell also b1793 Do you think my Samuel Sr and your James were brothers? Hello, first time posting, Recently just found my gg-grandmother's parents: Josiah Jordan / Jorden and Sarah A. found in 1850 US Census Jefferson County, Texas 1860 US Census Orange County, Texas They were married in Alabama, and believe her maiden name to be Sarah Glover. Some of their children: Mary Jane Jordan Helen Marr Jordan Henry T. Jordan Jane P. Jordan Josiah / Joseph Jordan (listed as Joseph in 1850 and Josiah in 1860 Census) Robert Jordan these are just a few of the names, I don't have my list in front of me. Helen Marr Jordan married Thomas Jefferson Davis ( Captain Tom J. Davis Seaman) and had many children. Mary Jane Davis Dura Jordan Davis Thomas Davis Charles Asbury Davis and others T. J. Davis father was Alexander Davis and a brother Francis A. Davis . They appear on the 1850 US Census Jefferson County, Texas and believe that other siblings also moved into the Texas area, a H. T. Davis for one. The Davis' owned steamboats / sternwheelers and operated on the Sabine River, Sabine Lake and Sabine Pass. There are also other rivers that run into Sabine Lake and as Capt. Tom Davis had the mail contract using the " DIME " as supply / mail carrier up and down the rivers. Some other boats, " Ace " " DURA " " Jeff Davis" " Tom Davis " to name a few. I believe one the the Davis' girls married: Goodwin and Phillips. Besides te Davis family being in the sea trade, the Jordan's were also Captains: J. J. Jordan and Robert Jordan. There are stories written by W. T. Block, a local historian posted on his website. His website maybe reached by: www.wtblock.com . I believe that the Davis' and Jordan's may have known each other in Alabama, and possibly, Alexander Davis' wife may have died prior to or in route to Texas, as she was not listed in the 1850 US Census. All help is appreciated and this new discovery. Thank you in advance. I've been told either Jane Jordan or Margaret Jordan married a Mr. Collier in Randolph County, AL, probably in the 1850s. The marriage records were all destroyed in the 1895 courthouse fire and, so far, I can't find any census records that support the marriage claim. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If you can find a death certificate for them, it should give the names of their parents, your GGrandparents. Or sometimes if you can find the obits you can get a lot of information from them unless you get one like I did the other day, it said: He is survived by his wife, 6 sons, 3 daughters, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and a host of other relatives. NO NAMES!!!!! Good Luck!
