Sent: Saturday, February 01, 2003 11:57 PM Subject: Fw: Jordan Roll Call - Annie Laura [Jordan] Storey AL, TX(?) My Brick wall is the family of Annie Laura Jordan who married James William Storey [Story]. She was reported to have married early. According to the census records I've found, Annie Laura was born around 1865-1866 in Alabama. The only listing for her parents' births on the 1920 census is "U.S." While she shows those same birthplaces on her 1930 census info, her daugther, my grandmother shows her father (JW Story) as being born in Kentucky and her Mother (Annie Laura) as being born in Texas. Family tradition has it that she was at least 1/2 Cherokee Indian and many of that tribe scattered, hid, and slowly integrated into other states during the roundup and forced migration of Native Americans. Tradition also has it that she had a twin sister who lived in Greenville, AL. . Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Sherry Muller
My Lewis Jordan, I have been searching in Kentucky for 14 years and cannot find him or on census, marriages or any Bibles and there is no trace of him. On his death certificate it is stated that he was born in Kentucky. Only wish the line hadn't ended with male heirs 2 generations ago, or I would have a DNA donation to add to the others. I also have no middle name for him. I only wish I could help more Cheri Quincy, IL ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary & Jan Ellis" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 02, 2003 6:03 PM Subject: Re: [JORDAN] Lewis Jordan b. 1813 KY d. 1868 IL > Do you know where in KY your Lewis Jordan is from? > ---------- > >From: "Diane & Jim Godfrey" <[email protected]> > >To: [email protected] > >Subject: Re: [JORDAN] Lewis Jordan b. 1813 KY d. 1868 IL > >Date: Fri, Jan 31, 2003, 5:13 PM > > > > >Did any of the people you listed have a son named Raymond Joseph Jordan born > >in Carlise, KY about 1875? > >----- Original Message ----- > >From: "C. I too have Jordan's from S.C.! Mine is a Lovick Pierce Jordan, born in 1807 in S.C., but don't know where! He was in Jones Co. Ga., as early as 1827, and it has that he was a teacher in 1833 in the Poor Schools in Jones Co. Ga. He then went to Pike Co. Ga., and was listed there in 1850, and he ended up in Chambers Co. Al., where he died in 1864. I'm happy to report, that I just found his and his wife, Malinda Ann Freeman, and their daughter's graves this afternoon, in Chambers Co. Al.!! Some say his father was a Jacob Jordan, and there was a Jacob Jordan in Jones Co. Ga., also there was an Elias Jordan, and a James Jordan Sr., and James Jordan Jr., and also a Robert Jordan. I have a feeling all of these connect somehow. My Lovick P. Jordan, was first married to a Nancy Heath, and then married Malinda Ann Freeman, in 1844 in Jones Co. Ga. He did have a son named Jacob, and he also had a son named Elias, so that is one reason I feel there is a connection to these other Jordan's in Jones Co. Ga. I found info that states the Jacob Jordan, was a Judge in Jones Co. Ga. Any and all information on any of these I've mentioned would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much! I have James Jordan b. ca. 1765 not sure where. married a Sussannah??? known children that I can prove: Adam b. 1780 SC m. Mary Galloway in KY died in KY James jr. b. SC m. Jane Glenn in KY died in KY Sussannah b. SC m William Williams died in KY Other families my Jordan's migrated with were Davies, and Adams. I found a Jonathan Jordan living near my James Jordan in SC and KY. I assume a brother? I also found TWO Adam Jordan's in KY. I believe the other Adam was a nephew, because he doesn't appear until after Jonathan is gone from census records. The clues hint that James Jordan Sr. is a son of Robert Jordan from PA. I believe James Jordan moved to KY to settle on his Rev. War Land Grant, along with other families. Adam Jordan's first son was Hugh Jordan, I believe. Any Jordan's out there from KY?? Jan ----------
Hello. " Re Joshua Jordan" paragraph...in the Jordan-L list recently I am interested in the John Jordan born about 1781 who could possibly be a grandfather I'm seeking. It would seem the 1781 birth could be about right to have a son in 1806... My gr gr grandfather was John Rogers Jordan, born 1806 apparently PA; married 1826 NH; died 1886 MA. Any help you can give is appreciated. Estelle
I wanted to make a correction to my last message. In the first part of my message I mention ed that I had an incomplete lsit of the children of Joshua and Deborah Jordan, and went to list Sarah, Fanny and Nathaniel. Sarah, Fanny and Nathaniel Jordan are the children of John Jordan born 1781; John Jordan being a son of Joshua and Deborah Jordan. Sorry for the mix up. :-) I probably do not have a complete list of the children of John and Delilah Jordan. That is what I meant. Just to let you know Samuel Jordan (first generation) can not be proven as the father of Thomas Jordan. Lucy Corker can not be proven as the wife of Thomas Jordan (second generation), his wife is unknown. Connie Grund
Here is what little information I have on Jacob Jordan SR. and his wife Patience Small. This Jacob Jordan Sr. COULD be the father of Joshua Jordan born about 1755 in PA. However this is NOT verified by ANY source I have seen yet. ID: I2140 Name: Jacob JORDAN Given Name: Jacob Surname: Jordan Sex: M Birth: 1 DEC 1732 Death: 9 AUG 1795 Note: I have NO verification, proof or documentation of ANY kind. There are HINTS that Jacob Jorda n (Sr.) is the father of Joshua Jordan, but until I have verification, I wanted to let you al l know that this link is only a possible one at this time. This Jacob Jordan is from Chowa n County, North Carolina. The Jacob Jordan family from Chowan, North Carolina, is a large fa mily, and when we can possitively link Joshua as the son of Jacob Jordan Sr.. I do have fro m the Everets 1800 Clermont County, Ohio, that states that Charles Jordan, married 1722 to Ab igail White, and were the parents of 7 children (5 sons, 2 daughters)- the youngest being Jac ob Jordan born 1732. This Jacob Jordan married 1751 and had a son in 1764, Jacob Jordan. I t mentions that in 1804, this Jacob Jordan immegrated from Chowan County, NC to Miami Twp., n ear Loveland. In 1808, went on to where Edenton now is. Jacob Jordan (Jr) had 8 children , 5 girls and 3 boys, naming two sons, Nathaniel and Silas V. (the only sons that settled i n Clermont County, Ohio). It further mentions that the Great-Grandfather of Jacob Jordan (Jr .) emmigrated from England in 1675, and in 1710 were in Chowan County, NC. I have added thes e extra notes, so that perhaps they may assist anyone also trying to make the connection of J aoshua and Jacob Jordan. Change Date: 20 SEP 2002 at 15:50:39 Marriage 1 Patience SMALL Children Joshua JORDAN b: 7 NOV 1755 in ,Washington,Pa,Usa Jacob JORDAN b: 1764 in Chowan County,North Carolina ANY help in correcting what information I have or having anything to aid me in verifying it, would be greatly appriciated!
