The obituary below is from the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St. Clair county, IL. I have on file a letter from the Belleville News Democrat (which the Advocate became a part of in later years) giving me permission to post any item that would be of help to genealogists. Unless stated to be a different state, all references to cities, villages etc. are in Illinois. I have been reading the Advocate on microfilm through inter library loan for several years, having started with 1850. The name of the paper and the paper date are shown at the end of each article. This does not relate to the Jones line I am researching. Transcribed and submitted by Nancy Giles. E. F. Jones, Oil Man, Carlyle, Dies Of Heart Attack E. Frank Jones, 66, of Carlyle, independent oil operator in the Carlyle area while residing there the last 15 years, died suddenly of a heart attack at 9:30 last night at his home. He was born in Downs, Kan., Dec. 15, 1887, a son of the late Frank and Mollie Warren Jones. He married Mae M. Thompson in Downs, Oct. 26, 1910. She survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Lawrence and Leland, both of Kansas City, Kan., and four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Rawlings, also of Kansas City; Mrs. Dick Ewing, of Downs; Mrs. Clyde Fritz, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Jack Whipps, of Henrietta, Okla. A brother, Bertram, preceded him in death three months ago. He was a member of the A. F. and A. M., the Shriners and the Methodist church. Friends may call at the Zieren-Day funeral home, Carlyle, after 6 o'clock tonight only. The body will be removed tomorrow to Beloit, Kan., for funeral services to be held in Beloit at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at Beloit.
