He was married first to Eliza Sparks, neice of his brother's wife and secondly to Charlotte/Shabata Smith who was born 22 May 1816 in Tennessee, and was part Cherokee. He had one known brother, Jesse Jones born 1808 in Builitt co. Kentucky, who died 11 May 1879 in Vigo co., Indiana, who married Eliza Sparks, and one sister who married Samuel Pray in Scott co Indiana. Family was originally from Virginia.
