OK, I found my elusive "grandpa Charlie" (Charlie M Jones of Chatham and Alamance, NC) and a BONUS... in the 1900 census, Charlie has TWO BROTHERS which nobody in the family ever heard of! CALVIN's middle name may have been Vestal; born Feb 1884. Orpheus, born Apr 1890, may have used his middle name (wouldn't YOU, if your name were ORPHEUS?) but since I have no idea what his middle name was, I don't have a clue as to how to locate him. Calvin may have moved to Mecklenburg County from Alamance. Calvin V, Charlie M, and Orpheus were the children of Wm. Heflin Jones (called Heflin) and Ora V Copeland (called Pinkey), and all the guys worked in the cotton mill. Heflin remarried to Martha Brown after Ora's death.Anyone here know this family or.... hopefully.... know what became of CALVIN and ORPHEUS? Nancy Jones
