    3. The article below is from the Daily Advocate, Belleville, St. Clair county, IL. I have on file a letter from the Belleville News Democrat (which the Advocate became a part of in later years) giving me permission to post any item that would be of help to genealogists. Unless stated to be a different state, all references to cities, villages etc. are in Illinois. I have been reading the Advocate on microfilm through inter library loan for several years, having started with 1850. The name of the paper and the paper date are shown at the end of each article. This does not relate to the Jones line I am researching. Transcribed and submitted by Nancy Giles. Jacqueline J. Meyer Become Bride Of Lt. Charles Jones Miss Jacqueline J. Meyer, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Othmar Meyer of Lebanon, became the bride of Lt. Charles M. Jones III, son of Mr and Mrs. Jay R. Overbay of Abingdon Road, Bristol, Va., in a pretty ceremony performed at four o'clock Wednesday afternoon, September 1, in the rectory of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lebanon. Msgr. Joseph B. Stenger, J. C. D., officiated at the double ring ceremony and the bride's father gave her in marriage. Miss Marilyn A. Meyer, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor and Miss Melanie J. Overbay, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. Lt. Elmo C. Baker was Lt. Jones' best man and Robert J. Meyer, the bride's brother, was groomsman. The bride was gowned in imported chantilly-type lace over white satin. The pattern of the lace formed the scoop neckline of the tight, basque bodice. The voluminous skirt cascaded in three tiers, in the Spanish manner, and flowed into a chapel length train formed by two extra tiers of the gathered lace. A standing crown of the lace outlined with small pearls and bugle beads held in place her fingertip veil of illusion. The maid of honor's gown was fashioned of crystallette, with a camisole top and fluted insert above the empire waistline. The full skirt of unpressed pleats was further enchanced with a front panel of accordian pleats. She carried a bouquet of yellow rosebuds. The bridesmaid was attired identically and carried red rosebuds. Mrs. Meyer chose a robin egg blue lace dress with white accessories and a white orchid corsage for her daughter's wedding while Mrs. Overbay wore a grey dress with a lace top and net over taffeta skirt. She completed her costume with turquoise accessories and a white orchid corsage. A wedding dinner was served to the immediate families after the ceremony in St. Joseph's School hall. A reception was held at the Meyer home after which the couple left for Sacramento, Calif., where they will reside. The new Mrs. Jones is a graduate of Lebanon Community High School and Sullins College, Bristol, Va., where she was a fine arts student. Her college clubs included the Hoofprints Club, YWCA, and Girls' Athletic Club. In high school she was named basketball queen in 1948 and also served as a cheerleader. Lt. Jones graduated from Bristol, Va., High School and attended East Tennessee State College in Johnston, Tenn. He is a flight test pilot at McClelland Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif. Out of town wedding guests included: Lt. Elmo Baker of Kennett, Mo.; Mr and Mrs. Jay Overbay and daughter, Melanie, of Bristol, Va.; Lt. and Mrs. J. Baker of Ladue, Mo.; Miss Betsy Walters of Springfield, Ill.; Miss Ruth Hoessle, Mr and Mrs. Sig Arbaugh, Frank Jacobson, Don Edmonds, Mrs. A. J.
