I am looking for Anson Jones born 1839 in Georgia but moved to California after the Civil war to be a miner. He lived in Placer County California and Nevada County California. He married Catherine Daugherty in 1875 and had Blanche 1891 who married a mr. Higgs John E Earnest Albert William P. Does any one have any ancestors who were born in California around this time that knows anything about the life and times of California? I have only been able to get information on the gold rush of 1848 which was much earlier than this. Ansons brother also went to California and was alive in 1870 but family stories said he struck it rich and was killed on the oregon trail but he is in the 1870 census in Placer California. I found him on that wonderful Freemont site!!! Any information would be great. nancy
