My MSAA (Most Sought After Ancestor) from the JONES line is the father &/or mother of Rachel Rebecca JONES, b. c1808, Spartanburg Dist., SC, d. 14 Aug 1896, Greenville Dist., SC, bur. Reedy River Baptist Church, Greenville Co., SC, beside her husband, Stephen Perry MARCHBANKS. It has been said many times that she was the dau of Samuel U. JONES and Bethia/Berthiah NATION. No one seems to be able to prove this at all, and I have had several folks tell me that it is absolutely wrong. I do know that there were 3 Samuel JONES in Spartanburg Dist., SC, in 1810 so it is possible that she was a dau. of another Samuel JONES. In the Clear Springs Bapt. Church records, there was a Francis JONES and a James JONES who were also members with their families at the same time that Rebecca and her daughter were members there. Could they be her brothers or other relative? There also was an Elkanah JONES in the Spartanburg Dist., SC, that I think may have been related to her.
