    1. [Jones] Thanks for all the help

    3. Thanks to the JONES List, my ancestry family is now complete. I was able to take my 88 year old Mother by train on a 17 day journey to the "past." I rented a car and we drove to the little towns where her grandparents and great-grandparents lived, and saw where her father and mother were born. "Genies" from other LISTS helped me locate the homestead property. A very nice farmer (also a "genie") took us out there, and even dug some dirt for us to take home. (The grandkids are going to make a model of a sod house from it.) I was e-mailed photos of my ancestors, and articles about the towns. One nice man went to the court to search for the exact address of the little house built by Mom's grandfather THOMAS SMITH JONES in 1883 - its still there and in very good condition, and the kind owner invited us in to see the inside! Now its time to say good-by to all the lists, and I'm unsubcribing. Mom has been in the hospital in ICU for the past 14 days. I have been staying with her, and will be bringing her home to take care of her if she "makes it." I'm thankful to you all for each and every tidbit of info. It's been my hobby, and I'm almost sorry the "game" has ended. Now I'm writing the stories for my family. Thanks, and I hope you all find your "past." Cathie Coover

    3. Kathy, That was the sweetest, kindest act of love that you did for your mother, I can tell you this not many kids would do that for their parents. She got to see where she grew up and where her both her grand parents and great grandparents lived, you just made her the happiest woman in the world. I know because when I was back in Louisiana we visited the land that her grand and great grand parents lived and some of her relatives that we didn't know even existed still live on the property today and my mom was so happy to just walk around on the property and tell us where the house use to be, etc. God bless your mom and you. I will be praying for your mom, but you stay strong and remember to appreciate, communicate and validate.
