My father Paul Jones b. 1899 told me that his ggrandmother Jones m. Samuel Jones b. 1795 MD was named Catherine. Samuel and Catherine had eleven children at Copley Center, Summit Co. OH between 1819 and 1840. In the 1840 Ohio Census there is shown a female with Samuel and children, but she is not listed in the 1850 census when the family is living at Ft. Madison, Lee County, Iowa. My dad's gggrandmother Jones m. James Jones b. MD was named Rachel. Catherine and Rachel were b. in OH or PA. Dad spelled one surname Cunad and the other Kunad. I'm thinking that he spelled phonetically and wondering if the name might be Knade. I found a Philip Knade, Lieut Continental Troops, Roll Box 131 Rev. War Service Records,1775-83.
