My Most Elusive Jones is Cornelius Jones, b. 7 May 1837 in Pennsylvania, d. abt 1909 in Clinton County, Missouri. Story has it that he was born in Pennsylvania and then when he was about 7 he moved to Ohio. He then came to Missouri with a Capt. Elisha Howard in the early 1850s. He served in the Missouri state militia in the Civil War. He married Rebecca N. Laffoon 24 Dec 1869 in Clinton Couny, Missouri. They had the following children: Bessie Mae Jones (Cornelius was living with her when he died.) Julia Jones, b. abt 1871 Infant Jones, b. abt 1872 Lucy Jane Jones, b. abt 1874 Wilford P. Jones, b.
