    1. [Jones] Daniel, father of Samuel maybe? NC/SC
    2. Michael Johnson
    3. I am searching for the parents of Samuel H. Jones, born on 2 December 1787. According to Surry County, NC Census records for 1850 and 1860, he was born in South Carolina. He was married in Stokes County, NC to Elizabeth Wortman on 29 March 1809. He is listed in the Stokes County Census records for 1810 and the Surry County Census records for 1830-60. I believe, but cannot confirm, that his father is Daniel Jones. Would be born probably around 1760. There is a Daniel Jones located in Surry County from 1795 to 1802, but is not listed in 1790 Census for North Carolina. The following information (provided by Chris Jones) relates: May 1795 A deed from Edward Williams and Ann his wife, to Robert Walker was proved by affirmation of Daniel Jones and ordered to be recorded. November 1797 A deed from Samuel Ellis to Adam Coffin was proven by the affirmation of Daniel Jones and ordered to be registered. February 1798: A deed from Daniel Jones to Isham Welch was proved by the oath of Samuel Welch and ordered to be registered. Surry County, North Carolina Deed Book I, Page 529 Adam Coffin to Richard Jones both of Surry County, land on Hunting Creek containing 118 acres. Signed Adam Coffin, Wit: Francis Barnard and Daniel Jones. Recorded November Term 1802 (Daniel and Richard Jones and Adam Coffin were Quakers). Anything in the Quaker records on Daniel? There is a Daniel Jones listed in the 1790 Census for Pendleton County, SC (one male over 16, three females), but he is not found there in 1800. Samuel names his first son Daniel and second son William (after Elizabeth's father). Samuel's son, Silas, named his first son Daniel Stockton Jones. My wife descends from Silas' son Jacob. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Michael
