Dear Joe, I am currently reading a book by Thomas Goodrich called "War To the Knife- Bleeding Kansas 1854-1861" This book mentions the Jones families that were early settlers of Kansas. One main character was Samuel Jones who was the Sherriff of Douglas County. I am not for sure if you are a big reader or not of history but this book talks about how hard it was to settle Kansas due to the proslavery and the free staters that tried to settle it.
