I am the g-gdaughter of Samantha Elizabeth GAMMON, JOHNSON, HICKS, JONES. Yes, she married 3 times. Family stories always said that at the last WHITTINGTON/HICKS Family reunion in which she attended—approximately 1938—held at her daughter ’s home (Zora Ethel HICKS WHITTINGTON my g-mother). Family stories attributed her to saying that she no longer wanted to be called Grandma HICKS—she wanted to be called Grandma JONES. Mr. Jones and Samantha Gammon Johnson Hicks were married between the 1910 and 1920 census, probably in Franklin County, Illinois. Searching censuses I finally located the elusive Mr. Jones in the 1920 census. The family is listed in the 1920 US Federal Census, Franklin County, Tyrone Township, ED43, Page 181A, line 15, house/residence #4 Of Section 30.
