Hi, I'm real interested in your JONES and GERMAN line. Reason being, my g-grandmother was named Amanda German HEWGLEY and she married Marshal Pitts JONES in Wilson County TN ca 1864. They had a son named Samuel P. JONES who lived in Weakley County TN but I do not know any of his family. It is my believe that GERMAN was more likely than not a family name. I believe the same to be true of the PITTS name, as many families gave their children family surnames as middle names. Do you see any connection here?
