    2. Ted, I was interested in the name of your grandfather, David Madison Jones b. 1857. My great-grandfather was Madison Floyd Jones b. Aug. 11, 1844 in Giles Co., VA d. Feb. 24, 1924 in Giles Co., VA m. Mary C. Phlegar b. 1852 in Floyd Co., VA d. Jan. 28, 1877 in VA. The name "Madison" seems to be a popular name in the Jones family. Do you know where it originated? I can't seem to make a conneciton with your family, but maybe you can make one with mine. Martha

    3. I am assuming that the Madison name was taken from some possible well know person of that day and time, just passed on down and kin those days honored their newly born their family name more so than now. Giles Co Va, the only thing I can come up with are some of my other kin, THE BLANDS ( Some most Interesting stuff here)as I as thinking this is where the name GILES might come from. I wish I could help but I am at the mercy of others at this point on my Jones's. I am going BACK toTennessee and get more information on those I do have. One thing to look for, the Jones men were lumber men, my dad was called quite an authority on hardwood lumber, as his dad was also a lumber man. My brother was for 44 years. Me, I chose parachuting for our Uncle, couldn't read a rule but earned 4 prs of jump wings in my time. Kidding about reading . Names associated in my lines are Bankston, Bennett, Robertson, Bland, Lee, Randolph. I know more about the first five names than the others, McHenry and THE JONES'S.
