I am not for sure if you are a big reader or not of history but this book talks about how hard it was to settle Kansas due to the proslavery and the free staters that tried to settle it. Just thought I would mention it. > > Sandra > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Joe, I got mine from the library. I read another book by Thomas Goodrich called "Scalp Dance-Indian Warfare on the Plains 1865-1879" It was such a good book that I picked up "War to the Knife" just because he wrote it and I wasnt disappointed. His books mention alot of people from those times and also alot of inserts from diaries etc. Sandra jenjoet <jenjoet@rof.net> wrote:Hello Sandra.... thank you for informed me about a book. Does this book mention an Ephriam Peter Jones who sometimes went by Peter? He was born in New York,1827, and his first wife's name was Testamony, thier first child Vienna, was born in PA. 1852. They moved to Ia. Co. Ia (1860 census) had 2 sons John and Orley, in 1870 census shows Ephriam with sons and 3 daughters, Susan, Adeline and Eliza. In aug Ephriam married Mary VanEgle. she died some time before 1875 when Ephriam married my g grandmother Eliza Jane Holden. They migrated to Silver Lake, Adams Co. Nebradka (1880 census and birth records of my great uncles then to Ericson, Wheeler Co. NE. where my grandfather Burt Jones was born. there were 7 children born to this marriage. Ephriam Peter Jones died April 1901. Eliza married Lewis Roblyer in Dec 1901 they both died May 1929 She was burried in Pible Cemetery next to Ephriam and Lewis Roblyer was burried next to his first wife near Sharidon NE. does anyone have information on this Jones family. my grandfathers siblings were John,Jesse (died in infancy) Stella who married a mr. Kellogg, William, Clark, I do not have names of the other boy here. Vienna married a mr. Cookus and I found her living alone in 1920 census in Sacramento Co. California. Orley Jones was ambushed and killed in the Johnson Co Wyoming War and was homesteading there with his brother John. I do not know what happened to Adeline, Susan and Eliza. any information about this family would be appreciated. ----- Original Message ----- From: "sandra jones" <sandrajpc2000@yahoo.com> To: <JONES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2003 12:30 AM Subject: Re: [Jones] a book-Bleeding Kansas > > Joe, > I got mine from the library.
