My g,g,g-grandfather was Cornelius JONES. He was born in 1810, probably in Ross Co, Ohio. He died in 1858 in Newton Co, Indiana. I believe his father might have been Moses JONES of Ross Co, Ohio. I saw a summary of a will for Peter JONES who died in Hampshire Co, VA (later West VA) who had a son Moses. Since there was a large migration from Hampshire Co, VA to Ross Co, OH, I'm thinking this might be the same Moses JONES. Does anyone have any information on this line? Marcy, Try the early census records for Lawrence County, OH and Washington County. I have been researching that area for 1860 and 1870. I do remember seeing the name Cornelius Jones. It struck a bell with me because I knew a man by that name when I was a child in Springfield (his daughter was a friend of mine in the 1940's) and I wondered if he was a descendant of the man on the census record. The first name is not a very common name. Mary Alice.
