He married ELIZABETH WORTMAN March 29, 1809 in Stokes County, New Jersey, daughter of WILLIAM WORTMAN and CONTENT STOCKTON. She was born March 15, 1789 in New Jersey, and died Bet. 1860 - 1870 in Surry County, North Carolina. Notes for SAMUEL H. JONES: Our first Jones ancestor, Samuel Jones, was said to have been born in South Carolina, according to U.S. Census records. Attempts to link this ancestor to the families in South Carolina have been difficult, though if you follow naming patterns, Daniel Jones would seem a good prospect, a name used in at least two generations. Also, there is a Daniel Jones located in the 1790 Census records for Pendleton County, South Carolina, but not in 1800. I have not located Daniel in 1800 Census records for North Carolina, however, a Daniel Jones is mentioned in Surry County Deed Books in the 1790's.
