    1. [Jones] Jones - List Ideas
    2. W. Chris Jones
    3. This is a good discussion and should remind us of the need to identify our subjects as best we can. With the Jones surname being the 4th most common, and then with so many common first names, there is a need to provide some details as to state and time period. Otherwise the queery is lost in the sea of Joneses. I too like to see the vast majority of the queeries but do look closer at those that provide some level of detail. Thanks. 1. [Jones] Jones List Suggestions - from Listowner
    2. Kathi Jones-Hudson
    3. Joyce -- everyone: In a word, no this List cannot be broken into regions/countries, etc. From Rootsweb instructions to Listowners: You May Not: Change the overall focus/topic of the list. For example, you may not change a list that focuses on a given surname to exclude all except those from a specific lineage or region. You would need to request a second list with those restrictions if such was your goal. There are already a few other Jones oriented Lists http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/j/jones.html and to see what Smith surname lists there are (more of them) http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/s/smith.html You, or anyone else, could request a new Jones-oriented List; you would be the Listowner, could do an 'advertisement' on this List, should at that point join other Lists related to your search area (i.e., Virginia) and advertise there. If you are really interested in doing this, contact me off-list at mdcat.geo@yahoo.com and I'll lend you a hand getting started. I do agree with Chris that folks need to include enough detail for us to identify where their Joneses are from and even more importantly please, please change the subject of your email to reflect what is in your posting. That way, if your Jones-post is about SC and I'm not interested in folks in SC then I can delete the message without looking at it. A good query always includes: Who, What, When & Where.
