Odie Jones was born about 1892 in or around what is now Columbus, Georgia. Believe her father may have been named Henry. She married James H. Slaughter, also born in Georgia about 1888. They had a daughter Willie Mae. Rumor has it that James was a drunk. A mean drunk. A wife beater. Some where along the line, Odie had had enough and one night when he came home, she wrapped the sheet around him an beat him senseless with a piece of firewood. He lived long enough to tell her how sorry he was and within a week he died from his injuries. Nothing was ever done to Odie. Does anyone have any information about this couple or their family?
