I agree 100%. When I began my Jones search, I started with the Brady line that married into the Joneses. Three persons had already posted some research and I "believed" their information. When my elderly Jones aunt unearthed a family Bible with names and dates, I realized that TOTALLY wrong INFO was posted all over cyberspace. The only person I could convince to CHANGE the bad info turned out to be my 3rd cousin. Nobody else will listen to me. It started with two cousins who were only a year apart in age, had the exact same name, and lived in the same county. Earlier researchers picked the one that was easy to find. Unfortunately, it was the wrong one. I don't think there is any solution except to verify everything we post; nobody can argue with PROOF. There's also a lot of errors on the Family History site of the Mormon Church. They have my family all turned around there. What I do when I get info off the net with no sources is to include a ? at the beginning of the name. I can continue the research, but know it is not proven. Hopefully those who see my info on the FTW site will realize the connection is questionable. And I have changed my information listed multiple times.
