Hi, Jeanne! Your Jones query intrigues me. For years I have been seeking parentage of my Thomas Jones and his wife Jane. We know that their children were born in NJ and that they were in Cayuga Co., NY 28 May 1831 when an accounting of Thomas' estate was made. Children were: Thomas D. Jones Elizabeth * John, b 1803 in NJ, d 31 May aged 79 yrs. buried in Mentz Church Cem. Cayuga Co., NY Charles D., was a blacksmith and administrator of his father's estate with his mother Jane. Mary Ann Julia marr. Orrin Foster. Sarah Jane, b 1815 d 5 Apr. 1834 age 18yr 1 mo. 2 days marr. Joseph McArthur. William, a minor. The first 6 children were over 21 on 28 May, 1831.
