August 23, 2005 Tuesday afternoon I am looking for any information that will help me in my search to establish the birthplace of my 2nd great-grandfather Jefferson Jones, b. Jun 11, 1812 in Cumberland. He married Isabella Henderson, b. Dec 16, 1820, of Guilford County, North Carolina. At some point, Jefferson moved to Guilford County, NC where he and Isabella were married and lived out their lives. On the birth certificate of Jefferson's son, David Hudson Jones, born in Guilford County, Jefferson indicated he was born in Cumberland. However, there is no reference to which Cumberland he might have possibly been born. It is from an accumulation of information about his descendants that I am now speculating he was born in Cumberland County, Virginia rather than Cumberland County, NC.
