My mother's cousin worked on our family history. She has listed for Stephen Jones that he was bonded to one George Chandler on August 15, 1827 until he was 21 by the father, Thomas Jones. The information was filed in Deed Book G folio 218 I think, on page 256-257. The only George Chandler I can find in the 1830 census for Kentucky is in Harrison County. I thought our Jones family was from Campbell County Kentucky. Is their anyone that could check this out for me in Harrison County????? I realize that bonding a family member to another person to learn a trade was somewhat common back in 1827, but the family moved a few years later to Iowa. It really bothers me that they left this child behind. I would love to find out if this is really the Thomas Jones that moved to Iowa and what happened to Stephen if he were bonded to George Chandler and left behind. When he was bonded he would have been about 12 years old. Please contact [email protected] if you can help me out.
