I am hoping to find some new information on my Jones 4th Great-grandparents, William and Lucy Jones. Most of what I know about William Jones comes from a short biography of his son, Harrison Jones of DeKalb Co., IN. I did find where Lucy was buried in the Beard family cemetery near Owasco, Carroll Co., IN. She would have been born about 20 October, 1784 and died 20 July, 1850 in Carroll County, IN. Below I have inserted the bio of Harrison Jones: Biography of Harrison Jones, page 575. History of De Kalb County, Indiana. Inter-State Publishing Company, Chicago, 1885. Harrison Jones, is a native of Kentucky, born in Maysville, June 10, 1812, the second of three children of William and Lucy (Thompson) Jones, natives of Kentucky, of Welsh descent. When he was three years of age his parents moved to Greene County, Ohio, and three years later to Lower Sandusky, now Fremont; thence, when he was nine years old to Canada, but a few months later returned to Ohio and located in Miami County. While living in the latter county his father went to New Orleans and died there of yellow fever. When he was seventeen years of age his mother moved to Indiana with his older brother, and he remained in Miami County till attaining his majority. About 1839 he moved to Carroll County, Ind., but returned to Ohio a year later and remained till 1845, when he came to Allen County, and rented a farm about eight years. In the meantime he bought 150 acres of land in Fairfield Township, DeKalb County, to which he has since added till he now has 200 acres, all under a high state of cultivation. Mr. Jones was married June 13, 1833, to Elizabeth Burkett, a native of Ohio, daughter of Christian Burkett. They had two children---Joseph and Lucy, and to Mr. Jones by his second marriage was born one daughter---Silvia. Mrs. Jones is a member of the German Methodist church. In politics Mr. Jones is a Republican. As you will note, the biography says that William and Lucy were both Kentucky natives. The problem with this is that there was no Kentucky prior to about 1792. It is more probable that they were from Virginia, as Kentucky was taken from parts of Virginia. Thus far, I have been unable to locate marriage record for William and Lucy in Kentucky or Virginia. Harrision's bio indicates that he was the second of 3 children born to William and Lucy. The other two were, Resin (Reason) V. Jones, b. abt 1805, OH and Angeline, b. 4 July, 1814, OH. Seeing that the other two children show Ohio as their birthplace, William and Lucy may also have been Ohio natives. As you can see, I have more questions about William and Lucy than answers. I'd appreciate ANY help. Thanks, Bill Jones Winfield, KS
