    1. Organizational Suggestions for postings/subject line
    2. Hello All. It has been exciting to see the response to the suggestion of a brick wall theme. It has certainly flooded the site with flying bricks. I believe it would be helpful to try and "stack" a few of the bricks into a few useful piles, and improve communication of names, dates, locations, etc. Having read through over 150 emails the last several days, please allow me to make some suggestions which may help those on the list sort through their postings. First let me suggest that those who continue to have an interest in the brick wall theme and wish to continue their participation start each subject line with an abbreviation "BW". This would shorten the subject line and immediately identify those with an interest and allow those without an interest to delete the email. Secondly, I would suggest we form cluster groups around the following themes: Cluster Group 1 = Colonial settlement 1607 - 1650 Cluster Group 2 = English Civil War/Expansion 1650 - 1740 Cluster Group 3 = Shenandoah Valley 1740 - 1770 Cluster Group 4 = Rev. War Period 1776 - 1793 Cluster Group 5 = Western Expansion/LA Territory 1800 - 1845 Cluster Group 6 = Civil War Period (US) 1860 - 1880 I would suggest the subject line could then be structured to look like this: BW-C4- JOHN JONES, 1783 SC, TN, MS This would read BW = brick wall interest group C4 = cluster group (I am interested in this time period) Then identify the name of the primary JONES that is your brick wall. This would be followed by a date, then by a "sequence of settlement", starting with birth state to migration, to settlement or death state. This would then help each reader to screen the subject line and decide if this would be of interest. There may certainly be better ways to organize the discussion. Please post your ideas using the same subject line. Thanks, Jerry. The Jones Genealogist.

    3. While Jerry is trying to be very helpful to people researching specific time and locations, Rootsweb policy demands that this list be open to all Jones research all the time and that no 'cluster' groups be formed within this List. It is to be open and not restricted nor limited nor anyone made to feel that they cannot or should not post a message about their Jones ancestors. Please disregard Jerry's post about the structuring of your posts and subject lines. However you should always have a subject line that is appropriate for your specific posting, good queries always include 'Who, What, Where & When' ... that helps to narrow down your search and lets everyone know exactly what you're looking for. Thank you. Kathi Jones-Hudson JONES List Administrator
