Hello All. There continues to be a tremendous response to the brick wall derby idea. I have had a chance to review the listings and present the following summary. There has been 46 JONES BRICK WALLS listed. The dates range from 1749 - 1889. There is a clustering of dates around certain primary historical events, i.e., Opening of the Shenandoah Valley 1749 - 1760 Close of our Rev. War Period 1780 - 1793 Western Expansion and purchase of Louisiana Territory 1803 - 1814 Settlement of the Middle Border States 1822 - 1845 There were 21 states listed. The states listed in order of frequency: NC, KY, VA, TN, IL, GA, AR, SC, NY, MD, IN, MS, OH, AL, FL, LA, NE, IA, MO, WVA, and WY. It might be helpful to form "cluster groups" around each of the historical periods. This might give those who are stuck, a new way to think about and organize your family information. For example, in several cases, a JONES family moved from NC, TN, MS , etc., and might fit a migration route better than a fixed geographic location. In many cases, the territory or state was originally part of another state or territory and understanding these "change points" can often help move around a brick wall.
I have too many emails to go through each day because I am searching several of my ancestor lines and I have a lot of brick walls. I may miss some info at times because if a Subject Line does not contain an ancestor name, estimated date, and location I tend to just delete. At times I can afford to look at other emails but I gloss over very fast. If you want help, if you need help, my suggestion is focus the subject line on name, place, dates or if you start a cluster put at least the dates, places. Subjects such as Jones Brickwall (this is a JONES list for brickwalls), Help With My Jones (we all need help), etc. will tend to turn many people off in my humble opinion.
