    3. I have included a brief genealogical family sketch and surely would be grateful for any help you can provide. In addition to the genealogy below there is a matter of great interest, which I think may possibly have appeared in a Monmouthshire area newspaper between the years 1868-1877. If anyone has knowledge of the incident or can contribute to the genealogy please be in touch. The family legend follows. William T. Jones (b. 1824-1826, Monmouthshire Wales) was a miner at Schuylkill County, Pa., Coal Dale (ca 1850), and later moved to Carbon County, Pa., Summit Hill (ca 1853) . Family legend has it that William T. Jones was hauling lumber to the mines when attacked by a mob of Molly Maguires and the band of thugs beat the daylights out of him. The legend goes further to state that he had the nose knocked off his face. There actually was a Molly Maguire during this time frame who had a reputation for lopping off noses! His surname began with a "B" and I think it may have been Branigan or Breneman, etc. I have searched for years for this information without success. It is my thinking that surely something as newsworthy as this may have been published in a newspaper from William's hometown, especially since so many family members emigrated to the United States from Monmouthshire. Again, anything you can offer regarding the beating of William T. Jones and/or the following family genealogy, as shown below, is greatly appreciated. WILLIAM T. JONES GENEALOGY, Monmouthshire, Wales Ancestor: William T. Jones, Monmouthshire, Wales; a miner. (bca. 1824, d. 30 Mar 1912, Summit Hill, Carbon Co., PA); emigrated 1846, Liverpool, Eng. to New York City, possibly on Ship Charlemagne or Ship United States.; wife Sarah (bca 1821, location unknown). Sarah may have died between 1850-1852. William remarries to "Ann", possibly Ann Perry/Parry. I believe her full name was Ann Charlotte Jones. Child #1: William Thomas Jones (b. 1845, Monmouthshire, Wales). Child #2: Morgan Reese Jones (b. 4/1847-1848), Monmouthshire, Wales; emigrated to U.S. 1851-1852 (August?); married Mary Jane Haldeman (b. 4/1851). Children: Ann Charlotte Jones-Thoma (b. 1873-1874); Maria Esther Jones-Oschman (b. 1875 d. 1909); William Horace Jones (b 1878); Sarah Irene Jones-Bobst (b. 9 Jan 1881). Child #3: Jeanetta Lewis, nee Jones (b. USA, Carbon County, PA., 1851-1853, d. 17 Oct 1893, Carbon County, PA., married James. ( There is also a William Lewis (b. _ d. 16 Nov. 1892), USA, Carbon County, PA.) Child #1: James Lewis (b. June 18, 1886), Carbon County, Pa. Ancestor: Mary Ann Williams, nee Jones (bca 1823, Monmouthshire, dca 1915, Summit Hill, Carbon Co., PA); married Thomas C. Williams (bca 1819, Monmouthshire, Wales; emigrated: Liverpool Eng. to New York City, 1842, age 23.) Mary Ann Jones-Williams is the sister of William T. Jones (b. 1824-1826). Ancestor: Morgan R. Jones (bca 1830, Wales), Carbon County, Pa., emigrated: Liverpool, England to New York City, 1854, age 24. Possibly a brother of William T. Jones, as shown above. NOTE: Last Will & Testament of William T. Jones. He leaves two properties, water company stock, and sums of money to the following grandchildren, a son, and his friend Eli Jones (& wife Sarah): Ann C. Jones-Thoma (b. 1873/1874), William Lewis, Mrs. Annie Jones, Mrs. Marg Smith, nee Lewis; and Mrs. Harry (Linda) Watkins, nee Lewis. His sister, Mary Ann Williams, is to live rent-free in his home on White Street, Summit Hill, Pa., until her death. Witnesses of the signing of the will are W. N. or W.W. Davis and E. W. Davis, both of Summit Hill, Pa. William's son, Morgan Reese Jones (b. 4/1847-1848), is his only child included in the will. I believe his first son, William Thomas Jones (b. 1845) must have died, and you can see that his daughter Jeanetta (above) died in 1893, leaving his only living child Morgan Reese Jones (b. 4/1847-1848) as an heir. Deeds for William T. Jones January/February 1853 - This deed is to the first property on Summit Hill, Carbon County, that William T. Jones owned. Prior to this he was living in Coal Dale, Schuylkill County, Pa., (1850 Federal Census) with wife Sarah and a five year old boy named William Thomas Jones. 6 January 1855 - William T. Jones & wife Sarah: Property on the North side of Railroad Street, Summit Hill, Carbon County, Pa. 28 April 1884 - William T. Jones & wife Ann. 23 November 1904 - Signed by William T. Jones and W.T. Jones. If this is his first son (b. 1845) one must assume until the facts are known that he died sometime between the signing of this deed and the distribution of the estate of William T. Jones (b. 1824-1826), since this son is not included in the will. There is another deed for a property at 31 Ammidon St., Summit Hill, Pa., the west side of a double
