I have two sets of JONES families that I am looking for. Here is the info on the first one. These JONES were from the Wake Co, NC area. In fact, there were several groups of JONES families in that area and I do not know which one my BARBARY JONES was from. She was born abt 1760, NC and died 5/1848, Wake Co, NC. She was married to THOMAS SMITH, Dec 4, 1797. They had at least three children before he died. She remained a widow until her death. Their children's names were 1) JONES SMITH, which we most likely can say he was named for his mother's Sir name. Her second child was 2) THOMAS SMITH, named for his father and the third 3) WILLIAM ELDRIDGE SMITH, named after his grandfather and/or many others named WILLIAM in this line. No idea where the ELDRIDGE came from. I have been trying to connect her with a JONES family for a long time. With a name like BARBARY, I would think it would be easily to find her parents but no luck yet. Hope someone knows abt her. I have done a lot of research on the JONES that were in that area and would love to hear from someone who has more info on them. I need info from the 1760 to abt 1800. I even thought that BARBARY was female for BARNABAS, with no luck. This JONES family may have come from Granville Co, NC, which was moved over to Wake Co, NC later. Her husband, THOMAS SMITH, lived in Granville Co, NC and is listed in the Granville Co, NC early census. I have found BARBARY JONES, born 2/10/1810, who was a daughter of REUBEN JONES and SUSANNAH VANHOOK, from Caswell Co, NC. REUBEN JONES was son of AMBROSE JONES, SR. and CATHERINE COLLINS, who came out of Mecklenburg Co, VA and settled in Granville Co, NC. My BARBARY JONES SMITH could have been a daughter but no proof at all. Hoping that someone can help with this one. Helen
