Sandy, Gayle - i've missed something in all the e-mails - but i'm also researching a John Jones in SC and would like to discuss the SSC Jones thanks, leigh
Leigh, my John Jones moved to Edgefield Co., 96th District, SC, with wife Margaret (Benson) abt 1778 from Uwchlan Township, Chester Co., PA. Their first two children, Jane and William, died 1777 before they moved. Son David, b. 1778, died abt 1780, and son William, born 1780, died 1791; born are buried in Bush River Cemetery, Newberry Co., SC. Eight more children (Sarah, David, Jonathan, Elisha, Elijah--my ancestor, born 1786, Benson, Susannah, and John Jones, Jr.) were born. Margaret was a Quaker, but I have found no evidence John was (it is a possibility if he was, he was disowned for serving in the SC State Troops during the Revolutionary War). John died 1796 and Margaret died 1794; they were buried in the "old broomsage field" on their plantation they owned abt 7 miles out on Newberry-Edgefield turnpike.
