Sandy, according to "The John Jones Family Genealogy" compiled by Rita Jones Elliott, John Jones was born "presumably in Wales, and he is said to have come to America with his parents about 1750 with one of the many groups who came to Pennsylvania with William Penn." In "Keeping Up with the Jones" by Inez Jones Johnson, "the first Jones ancestor came from Wales to Philadelphia. Later, the Jones representatives moved from Philadelphia to South Carolina."
