    3. Susi, While I have not pursued it diligently I have been told by several sources that the records in St. Mary's County were destroyed during the Civil War. Many people have linked my Stephen Jones with Ambrose Jones of Granville NC although I have never really seen any document that could prove it. Stephen was the only one of the children of Ambrose who wasn't born in NC. I would love to be able to find out if he is linked to any of the Jones families in St. Mary's County, Md.?
